The Boards of Health in these seven municipalities came together because they were eager to create a wellness program for town and city workers. Another common thread is that all the municipalities have Blue Cross Blue Shield as their insurer or among several insurer options. Southcoast Hospitals Group Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

The City of Fall River is providing the Employee Assistance Program to municipal employees and their families. Immediate family is defined as anyone who lives in your household. This program is available to all employees and family members of Fall River with the exceptions of the Fall River Police Department (Fall River Police Department has an independent EPA program, click here for details!) and Fall River School Department.

Employee Assistance Program and Peer Support Unit for the Fall River Police Department

The purpose of the Fall River Police Department Peer Support Unit (PSU) is to provide stress reduction, prevention, and education to Department personnel who may be experiencing adverse emotional issues in their lives. Members of the unit administer, in conjunction with Family Service Association, a program that has been developed to provide, among other services, critical incident debriefing to officers who have been involved in extremely stressful situations while performing their professional duties. Click here for a printable flyer with further information!

It is known that personal problems such as marital difficulties, parenting issues, elder care, emotional upset, alcoholism and drug abuse adversely affect the health and personal happiness, as well as job performance of employees. EAP will provide assessment, short-term counseling and referrals for further treatment, if necessary, to assist employees facing difficult family, emotional or other personal problems. Qualified counselors will be available to answer questions and meet with employees and members of their families to assess the problem and assist with identifying measures to reduce the stress and severity of the problem.

The Program is strictly confidential. Names of employees will not be reported back to your supervisor or employer.

The EAP benefit is provided at no cost to the employee. If further assistance is recommended, alternative plans will be offered. If extended help to resolve problems is needed, the employee or their insurance coverage will be responsible for payment.

Click here for a printable brochure that further explains the Program. Also, feel free to call the Employee Assistance Program with any questions or to schedule an appointment at, 508.679.7171, 508.990.3772 or 888.543.4120
